The IOTA project is preparing to activate the first phase of the Chrysalis update on the mainnet – it will launch as early as next week and should significantly increase the performance of the blockchain.
“The first phase of Chrysalis’ upgrade (IOTA 1.5) on the main network will increase performance, reliability and usability. The throughput will reach 1,000 transactions per second, and the confirmation time will be 10 seconds. It will be a truly new experience for using the IOTA network, ”the company says on Twitter.
The developers updated the tip selection process (URTS) to make it easier to link transactions, improved the milestone selection process (CTPS) and applied a “white flag” approach to calculating balance, which will improve transaction speed and prevent some attacks. Automatic peering has also been added to reduce the time to set up a new node.
During the second phase of the update, which should be completed by the end of October 2020, the developers plan to implement the UTXO model, atomic and binary transactions, and address reuse. Recall that at the end of June, the Pollen test network was launched in the IOTA project – the first stage of the IOTA 2.0 update, which involves the shutdown of the network coordinator node.
